10 Things Reiki Masters Shouldn’t Forget

So now that you have got your final Reiki Master attunement, congratulations on it. It is a beautiful feeling, isn’t it? I am sure you must be on the top of the world. However once you achieve the title of a master it is very important you imbibe the qualities of a true master within you. I was extremely lucky to have a good master who not just taught me Reiki but made me self-sufficient and taught me integrity overall. Not all masters will have this beautiful straightforward clean approach. However we all as masters should try and be the best versions of ourselves so that this divine energy gets rightly used only for the highest good of all.
Over a period of time I realised I had a lot more to achieve before I started teaching Reiki. I had to go through a lot of introspection and self-discovery before I started teaching and made every effort to start teaching only when I was completely ready to teach.
Sharing a few tips for all masters and would be masters. Please remember these are merely from my opinion and are just some tips to everyone. There could be more to it.The below points are nowhere close to ‘any set of rules’. Kindly pick up only what resonates with you and leave the rest out if you do not agree or resonate with it as everyone would definitely have an opinion of own.

1. Never underestimate your student
Everyone has something to teach and something to learn. Respect your students. They are there to teach you how to be a good teacher so accept that and share the best knowledge you can.
2. You are just a medium
Although they have chosen you as the teacher, you are just a medium to attune them. So don’t act like a know it all. Be humble.
3. Never think you are a “know it all” and avoid stagnation
Being a master teacher is your start of another big journey towards discovering parts of yourself. It is a beginning. Keep learning every day and brush up your skills. Update your knowledge. Don’t let your ego seep in.
4. Share the knowledge
This is another tip which applies not just to a Reiki teacher but to all teachers. A good teacher will always share knowledge and teach the students without keeping it to themselves. Never hide anything from your students with the selfish objective of being the only expert. Remember this approach won’t take you anywhere. Being an honest teacher with the point of view of making the student an expert is the only way to be a teacher.
5. Don’t market yourself for money
Although awareness is very important don’t market yourself for money. The money will come at a right time and from the right place. Don’t use marketing gimmicks like overcharging or taking too much money in advance, which are fear based thoughts. Respect that everyone has a calling. You’ll receive exactly the money you need and deserve. Trust it.
6. Don’t force students to rush into an attunement
They say when the student is ready a teacher appears. Make them aware of the benefits of learning Reiki but respect their calling and choice of teacher. Respect them and the time. If a student doesn’t chose to learn on a particular day it is because he or she is not ready yet. When the time is right it will happen.
7. Take energy exchange
All said and done, you shouldn’t do attunements for free.  Unless you take exchange from students it won’t meet the purpose for both. There should be balance in give and take. It is literally energy exchange. So it will be energy worth for you making the material, spending days and weeks together to make it perfect and self-explanatory. You’ll also charge for the print outs or handbooks, the rent for your place, for the efforts and energy spent in teaching and most importantly the attunement. So charge reasonably without being greedy.
8. Cut cords and stay grounded
It is very important to cut cords always. It is very important to stay yourself and stay grounded. Post every attunement session, make sure that you cut cords and ground yourself so that you remove any negative energy. Keep the practice of grounding yourself and cutting cords daily to stay clean and grounded. Devoting 5 minutes to chakra cleaning daily will do a lot good.
9. Make the student self-efficient to find a master in himself
Everyone has a personal power. You should make the student aware of his or her personal power. A true master is someone who makes their student realise that there is a master inside each of them which is waiting to be discovered.
10. Stay happy
If you are influenced by lower vibrations like fear, anxiety, worry, anger etc, it is likely that you are moving away from your original nature or what we call as our best version or higher self. Also, it may affect your attunements when you teach students. So stay happy. Eat nutritious foods, exercise and meditate regularly and keep your vibrations high. Above all trust your intuition and love more!
Here is wishing you all the best in your beautiful journey as a Reiki master teacher!
